Be sure to pick up an Exotic Helmet Engram! We have reviews for each of Destiny’s Exotic helmets:

No Land Beyondno land beyond exotic sniper

Best weapon in Destiny? Better than Gjallarhorn? Only in a dream… Why is No Land Beyond a Primary?

Certainly not as exciting as the sniper rifle sold last week (Ice Breaker), No Land Beyond is going to serve a completely different playstyle. Ironically it’s got the exact same stats as Ice Breaker!

You can check out our fully upgraded review for this weapon as well.

Should I Buy It?

No Land Beyond, to put it simply, is a weapon that you’ll need to get used to. You can do well with it, but you can do well with just about any weapon if you’ve got enough skill.

Don’t use it like a sniper rifle and you might not be disappointed.

No Land Beyond is actually fun to use at times. The disconnect you get from a bolt action type rifle in the universe of Destiny is humoring.

You’ll have to work for every kill, but when you finally get into the weapon’s rhythm, it gives you a very rewarding/satisfying feeling. It fortunately does have the second highest Impact out of any sniper rifle (tied with Ice Breaker).

Given you’re skilled enough to master the weapon, you may enjoy using it in PvP. In PvE however, there’s no good reason to use this as your primary weapon.

Pass on this weapon, it’s currently not worth it, but keep in mind that it’ll most likely receive a buff eventually.

Stats Compared to Other

  • Above Average: Impact
  • Below Average: Stability, Rate of Fire, Reload Speed

Notable Perks

  • Mulligan – Missing a shot has a chance to return ammo directly to the magazine.
  • The Master – Increased precision damage. Kills briefly increase damage against next target.

Mk. 44 Stand Asides (Striker)mk 44 stand asides exotic

The first pair of Exotic Titan boots (introduced with The Dark Below) are on sale again. Peregrine Greaves are coming with the House of Wolves.

These boots have a low stat roll of only 112/120 Strength, lower than the last time they were sold.

  • Heavy Weapon Ammo – Increases the amount of Heavy Weapon ammunition you can carry.
  • Be Somewhere Else – Increases the duration Shoulder Charge remains active.

Should I buy it?

The Mk. 44 Stand Asides are an OK choice for any PvP-focused Striker who enjoys getting up close and personal with the enemy.

Often you’ll find that the window for shoulder charge is too short, having to plan your movement around getting that shoulder charge kill. These boots will extend the time it’s available by about 3 seconds, increasing it to 8 seconds from 5.

These will enable you to run a bit longer, and the high Strength will ensure a followup Storm Fist for anyone who somehow lives through your Shoulder Charge.

Use the Transfusion talent to further aid you on the field with health regeneration.

If you’ve got spare Coins, and need a PvP-specific Exotic for your Striker, give these a shot. Keep in mind that if you’ve already got an armor piece that increases heavy weapon ammo, it’s not going to stack with these boots.

We recommend an Exotic helm, chest, or gauntlet.

Radiant Dance Machinesradiant dance machines exotic boots

These boots are specific for a certain type of player. Some may find these helpful if they value quicker movement, but personally, Exotic helms, gauntlets, or chests would be a better option.

These have 137/147 Strength, which is actually a great amount.

In the House of Wolves, Hunters will have access to Unremarkable Bones.

  • Heavy Weapon Ammo – Increases the amount of Heavy Weapon ammunition you can carry.
  • The Dance – You move more quickly while aiming your weapon.

Should I buy it?

The first time these have been sold, Radiant Dance Machines are built around being more mobile while aiming. For a high mobility build, they can be a solid choice for a Hunter that’s trying to avoid crossfire.

While “The Dance” perk won’t give you a substantial increase in speed, it is helpful enough to build around. Combine these with the MIDA Multi-Tool and high agility, and it’ll be like floating on air!

Similar to Mk. 44 Stand Asides, these will increase your heavy ammo as well, so coupling them with a machine gun in PvP will be your best bet.

These boots are for a very niche crowd, and will be most beneficial in the Crucible. Only pick them up if you are looking for a new toy to play with in PvP.

We’ll be doing a fully upgraded review video for both of the Exotic boots soon, be on the lookout for that.

Starfire Protocol (Sunsinger)Starfire Protocol exotic

Starfire Protocol was the only Exotic chest that was introduced with The Dark Below expansion. Purifier Robes and The Ram are coming with the House of Wolves, also for the Sunsinger.

We recently reviewed this chest. It’s a great option for a Sunsinger who loves using Fusion grenades.

It’s got 127/137 Intellect, less than last time it was sold.

  • Fusion Rifle Ammo – Increases the amount of Fusion Rifle ammunition you can carry.
  • Heavy Weapon Ammo – Increases the amount of Heavy Weapon ammunition you can carry.
  • Starfire Protocol – Gain an additional Fusion Grenade.

Should I buy it?

Starfire Protocol’s main perk will give you an additional fusion grenade, but this does not stack with the Gift of the Sun talent, so you can only hold 2 grenades.

While this does pigeonhole you into taking Fusion grenades, it does free up the Angel of Light or Touch of Flame talent.

Touch of Flame allows your Fusion grenades to always ignite enemies, and in PvP this will help finish off anyone who you failed to stick the grenade to. Double this with Viking Funeral for extra ignite damage.

This chest piece will also increase your fusion rifle ammo and heavy ammo reserves, similar to the Heart of the Praxic Fire.

Forgetting about the increased ammo you can carry, this chest piece is worth buying for the additional Fusion grenade alone, assuming you enjoy using that grenade. The Fusion grenade deals 100 damage in a small blast radius and an additional 65 bonus damage when stuck to a target.

The Intellect on this armor increase the charge rate of Radiance, getting your double Fusion grenades back quicker than they would normally.

For this chest, it comes down to how much you enjoy the Fusion grenades. If you prefer Solar or Firebolt, the Heart of the Praxic Fire or Sunbreakers might be a better Exotic option.

  • BAMozzy69 .

I will probably buy a few Exotic Helm Engrams as I want an upgraded Mask
of the 3rd Man for my Hunter as that would be very helpful in the Crota
Raid – particularly the Hard mode. I may upgrade ‘Invective’ as that’s
my last ‘300’ Exotic left now but as I never use it, it would be just
for completion purposes. I don’t think much to the 2 Exotic boots and
can’t see them being used and already have the Starfire Protocol which
is similar in essence to the Voidfang Vestments and Lucky Raspberry.

    • BAMozzy69 .

Well it took me 15 Exotic engrams to get ‘Mask of the 3rd Man’ :-/

      • NLK3

Wait… you had about 375 motes?

        • BAMozzy69 .

Maybe not quite that many, I think I had 367 before today. Its not like there is anything really to spend them on (like Strange coins – which I have around 350 of)

  • TL;DR:

    Should I buy…?

    No Land Beyond – No
Mk. 44 Stand Asides – No
    Radiant Dance Machines – No
    Starfire Protocol – No

    • Happy Gamer

Yeah I know tons of people try to convince me that starfire protocal at times can trump praxic fire. just no. On paper this seemed amazing, because you can spec around damage over time now, so using fusion sticky, you can kill off your opponent if it isn’t dead. this doesn’t really work as well as you may think, also damage over time is an effect in this game that is not a prominent form of dps. It sure can be an annoyance in pvp and shield eater for pve, but to the extent to say it is amazing, no.

But those of you who don’t have praxic fire, and would really love the other perks, it is identitcal (and freakin awesome), and will love this.

Dance machines as well, it is definitely more multiipurpose version of the hunter raid boots. But at the same time, I would not use these above hunter helmets or lucky ugly raspberry.

      • Mezi-Crochet

        100% Agree! Praxic>>>>>>Starfire
        Not even close!

    • Geoffrey Sims

Agreed, I got the MK 44’s the other day. It lasts for about 3-5 seconds longer for shoulder charge. Permanent my ass…

  • Christian

Hmmm. Not such a great selection this week. Although, we did just get an Icebreaker, so I can’t complain. Radiant Dance Machines are great for crucible if you use weapons like Mida Multi-tool. It just gives you more agility and makes it very difficult for enemy players to hit you. Mk. 44 Stand Asides double the duration of Shoulder Charge. So really, only get them if you are a collector or have a serious obsession with certain play-styles. Haha.

  • Tycally Vicano

a shitty selection to make up for last week’s awesome one?? also, does it seem, to anyone else, like Bungie is under orders to make Xur push these TDB exotics to get more people to buy the dlc??

    • Well No Land Beyond has been up more times than Gjallarhorn, Thunderlord, Hard Light and Universal Remote COMBINED and it’s been out what… six weeks?

      • Geoffrey Sims

This is only the 2nd time that No Land Beyond has been up.

        • NLK3

Yet, Hardlight, Thunderlord, and Univeral Remote were NEVER sold. Gjallarhorn and Red Death were sold once… the FIRST MONTH!!!

          • BarretOblivion

Red death was sold twice during the first month. 1st week and 4th week.

    • Dan

Yeah I have no doubt that’s what they’re doing. For Xur almost all DLC armor lately, no land beyond twice, dragon’s breath once. Almost every other day the daily heroic story is a DLC mission, etc.

    • TheFossilMan

But do you blame them? If this model is going to work people will have to buy the DLC. You can still play the game without the DLC there are just some things you can’t get. Why should someone without the DLC be rewarded for not doing it?

      • Sean Lai

Because it cuts off people without DLC from playing modes that were previously available to them, such as a number of Daily Heroics, some Weekly stuff at TDB launch, and Iron Banner forever, despite IB not utilizing any of the DLC maps (really, Bungie?). The number of options available to vanilla players has actually decreased following the release of TDB.

        It’s very sleazy of Bungie.

        • Mezi-Crochet

Not agree! If you want to play Destiny, you’ll have to buy all this stuff. it’s a dynamic game, the game evolve. If you want to buy a game and play it exactly the same over and over, don’t buy this game. There’s gonna be a lot of DLC in this game. You’ll have to pay to evolve with the game, that’s it! All the work Bungie is doing worth the 20 bucks every three months! I just don’t get why people are so greeds when it comes to video games. Theres a lot of work and peoples behind this game. 20 Bucks… it’s two Mcdonald’s Meals guys!

          • NLK3

So it’s fair to buy something, then have part of it taken down, after paying full price for it? It evolves, sure, but it shouldn’t take anything away from you either. Without the DLC, you CAN’T do most daily and weekly stuff anymore, let alone Xur’s (shitty) new exotics can’t even be purchased, unless you pay the $20 to get the extra stuff + the other $10 that was removed. Before the DLC, you could play the whole game. Now, you CAN’T. It’s not like they got $10 back because $10 worth of content is gone and to get it back, you pay it back + $20. This is HORRIBLE business. I got the DLC pack on day one, so I shouldn’t complain, but because of how this is going, I had to let one of my friends avoid this game until the price goes down, if he can handle months of grinding. And no, $20 is two Big Meal Boxes, which is about 2-3 meals each. Maybe 3 full non-dollar menu meals, and that’s still about $2 left.

          • Sean Lai

            A. What the hell are you buying at McDonald’s where it comes out to $10 each time?
            B. $20 is not something to take lightly. It’s not a completely insignificant sum of money
            C. No, a developer should never take features out of the vanilla game to push DLC. It’s sleazy as fuck and alienates people who can’t afford the DLC, but still bought the base game.
            D. “All the work Bungie is doing is worth the 20 bucks every three months!”

Oh yeah? This DLC is barely worth $10, much less $20. For $20, Rockstar gave players most of a GTA game, complete with over a dozen hours of new missions, side activities, and whatnot. Twice. Gearbox doles out about 5 hours worth of content for $10 with Borderlands and Borderlands 2.

Bungie gave us about 5 hours worth of content (and that is being pretty generous) for $20. 3 story missions that can all be completed in less than an hour, two 25-minute strikes, and a raid that can be easily accomplished in under two hours (three with some amount of incompetence). All while taking away gameplay options for people that don’t buy it. This is basically robbery compared to the rest of the industry (not counting games that deal in only competitive map content, such as Battlefield or CoD. Only considering story-driven content, such as GTA IV, Borderlands, WoW, etc.).

Do new map packs for Call of Duty, or expansions for Wow, prevent players from playing modes or activities that were in the base game? Hell no! That would be stupid.

        • TheFossilMan

It’s how a game like this has to work. While I would agree there has seemed to be a disproportionate amount of DLC dailies and weeklies (I believe there has already been 3 weeks of Omnigul for Nightfall since release) I see their point in at least doing it twice. I paid for this content I should experience it like I had done all of the other strikes dozens of times. Honestly I see this from both sides. I spent more money than you and repeat customers get better service. It’s how most business’ work. They definitely could make just a few minor tweaks to make others feel better but they are just minor. One tweak could be to just have a rotating schedule of the strikes each week.

      • Tycally Vicano

a capable company should offer incentive for buying their new content without alienating the people that just have the vanilla version. an entire/majority stock of TDB gear is clearly alienation. it doesn’t feel like an addition to game, but a requirement for the game to feel complete.

        • TheFossilMan

I certainly understand your point. Trust me I do. However, the other option for this is to charge a monthly fee to play the game. Honestly those individuals the buy the Call of Duty map packs get punished for buying them because they are really only good for the 2-3 months that the DLC playlist is on matchmaking. AT the same time, I think Bungie made some mistakes with Destiny and even the original game felt incomplete. I think that for a game like this the only way to get everyone on the same page for this type of game is the only way for it to work.

  • If I have a great deal of strange coins, I don’t mind buying exotic weapons. Destiny becomes more fun when you can play with different weapons.

  • Christian Aderhold

I do think that bungie is punishing us with the most unique (and terrible) exotic gun to make up for the Ice Breaker. Not to mention, although owning TDB, their insistence on making so many exotics for purchase TDB exclusive is obviously just pushing those who only have the vanilla game to buy it. Sleezey move, bungie.

    • hauntedknight55

I don’t think there is any weapon in the game that ‘punishes’ us. That’s such a weird thing to say. As stated above, and I agree, its just a fun gun to play with. It’s not meant to be brought into a raid, but for all of the repeatable bounties, its just fun. That’s why we play the game, for entertainment.

And let’s be honest, if you are STILL playing Destiny then why don’t you own the expansion? Its not expensive in the grand scheme of things. I own it, so I want expansion stuff to be sold. I don’t want to have to appeal to people who aren’t caught up.

      • Christian Aderhold

No land beyond is a punishment to use in every sense of the word, and as for the DLC, its just unfair

  • TheWeedWizard

I bought the NLB because bungie is going to buff it like they did with Thorn and Bad Juju

    • Christian Aderhold

exactly. Mine’s fully upgraded, waiting to be buffed into a monster

      • Password?

What are they going to buff? Faster bolt action reload? Easier target acquisition? Faster rate of fire? It wouldn’t be NLB then, it’ll just be another sniper that acts and fires the same way as most of the sniping rifles in this game. They want it to be difficult to use and force a different play style. I can’t see them buffing it without making it a completely different gun.

        • Hanayo Asa

I’m thinking they could do a thing similar to the Kraber from Titanfall. One-shot kill anywhere on the body, projectile-based instead of hitscan-based.

          • NLK3

I want the glare removed and either speed up the bolt action or remove the reloading completely (not just after the bolt action). Then it’ll be useful. I want the bolt action because it’s an exclusive animation, like the Last Word.

          • Password?

So you want it to be a rocket launcher then? No seriously, I understand why people want this gun to get a buff, and I agree it needs some love, but just upping the stats isn’t going to do it. It needs a complete design overhaul. As for the hone hit body kill suggestion, yes there are some guns that can do that already, but only when you waste a few bullets in the clip and have the thing maxed out. I can’t see buffing a gun to allow that on every shot. They’d just be inviting more outrage and Suros Banner would become NLBanner.

        • NLK3

Remove the glare at least. I got it weeks ago, hoping the scope was smaller, but it’s still kinda far for me. Or are you saying the bad exotics are no longer the same exotics either? That’s the point in making it better. It’s useless now, especially since the stats are wrong (Same range and impact as Ice Breaker? My brother maxed his out and the bonus damage does less than his unleveled purple! SERIOUSLY!!!).

          • Password?

I agree, I think my original comment may have suggested I like the way it works, which was not what I intended. In order to make it a better weapon, they have to scrap it and make something completely different. They don’t need to buff it, they need to remove it until they figure out a way for it to be a challenging weapon to use that works properly. As it is now, it’s more of a chore to use than anything else.

        • Christian Aderhold

Bolt action and impact are whats needed Imo

    • Geoffrey Sims

No they won’t. They say a lot of things. Vault space is more important to the WHOLE bungie community at the moment.

      • NLK3

I wish it was infinite per category. Already have limited inventory. I know some like the challenge of lacking availability, but I want EVERYTHING!!!

  • Murat Ozcan

XUR needs a cooldown on repeating items.
If he sells one item, he needs to not sell it until it goes through the whole list.
RNG my @ss, give us a break.

Also, when you have Efrideet’s Spear OP roll- 3 rounds with final round and armor pierce- who uses ANY exotic sniper in pvp? As they are, maybe if Patience & Time made your red light invisible to targets, it may be worth it to use it instead of Efrideet’s.

    • Christopher Boscarino

Agreed. I have an Arc Efrideet’s with Final Round (no armor piercing, field scout instead) and it is my go to sniper rifle. I bought Ice breaker, but most of the time it’s the spear in the specials slot.

  • Mezi-Crochet

Ok… All we need is Heavy Ammos… not there!
We beat crota yesterday at hard, and all I can say is… We’ll need A LOT of this heavy ammos pack!

  • chris daber

Radiant Dance gave me 1 additional bullet in the machine gun… WTF is that!!! My Zombie apocalypse went from 225 max to 226 max.

    • Sean Lai

Does your Zombie Apocalypse have Field Scout? The bonuses to ammo from Field Scout and Heavy Weapon Ammo do not stack in any significant way. However, with a rocket launcher, the extra one shot actually matters.

  • Carl Peyton

does the exotic helm ingram have a chance to pop a weapon?

    • Octus

it only has a chance at a helmet

  • Pat Mcfeely

Radiant Dance Machines aren’t bad especially paired with a Mida Multi Tool. If you got a surplus of coins buy what you like. Can’t complain about Xur when he’s dishing out exotics every Week. With that said however I’d love to see the armatarium, gallahorn, or heart of praxic fire again….sigh a man can dream.

    • boostedskyline

No more gjally’s sold from him hopefully, it’s gotta stay the unicorn it is.

      • Pat Mcfeely

Too old for fairy tales man…lol

        • boostedskyline

You gonna believe in this one bruh

          • Pat Mcfeely

      • Geoffrey Sims

        fuck that

        • boostedskyline

          That’s the spirit

      • NLK3

        • boostedskyline

Just saying, you gonna be happier earning it

  • Geoffrey Sims

Bring back GHORN and Thunderlord for fuck’s sake…

  • Jason Peterson

The movement bonus on Radiant Dance Machines is so minimal they are not worth wearing over most any exotic. Only on a maximum agility build with something like the MIDA Multi-Tool are they worth considering.

Absolutely bottom Tier for Hunters, next to Arachnid Helm.

    • Pat Mcfeely

That’s the point it’s only fun with Mida
