Cool, Mida-Multitool. My friend got that in crucible yesterday. Sucks for him :/

    • BAMozzy69 .

Why does it suck for him?? I have the Mida Multi Tool and had it for many weeks. It just means that I don’t have to spend 23 Strange coins on a weapon this week.

      • Raxs

He worked his ass off for it and then XUR sold it. It’s a little insulting to him considering Mida was an incredibly rare weapon and then some merchant just comes in and sells it to anyone. He doesn’t mind spending coins because they are easy to get.

        • BAMozzy69 .

He didn’t work his ass off specifically for this weapon! He played the Crucible, trying to get Kills and win matches and randomly got Mida – same as I did! Its value was equivalent to 23 Strange Coins so not a bad reward for playing 1 match!!! He could of got it as a Reward for completing a Nightfall or even completing a stage in the Raid too!
If you have 3 classes then 23 Strange Coins are quite easy to obtain – just do the weekly heroic on highest level 3 times. As you can see this reward though takes 3 heroics to buy – you friend got it for NOTHING – he could have been rewarded by being AFK in the Crucible as its a RANDOM reward!
Its NOT that Rare as me and 80% of my clan have it too!
Nearly ALL Exotics have the potential to be sold by Xur – the exceptions being the Exotic bounty items and the Vex (Hawkmoon and monte carlo on PS as well as they are exclusives and Xur sells the same items on all platforms).
It certainly isn’t ‘insulting’ for Xur to sell this (or ANY) exotic. Your friend got it for FREE, others have to pay or wait until they get it randomly for nothing too!

          • Raxs

He completed VOG on hard with me. Who said anything about crucible? He was trying to get a decent weapon from VOG. It wasn’t free because it took weeks to practise and round up a strong enough team (The ascendant materials that where invested in this took forever to get). Even if he did get it from crucible, it’s not a one match thing. Usually you have to play 100 matches to get an exotic. I have played well over 100 and still haven’t gotten it that way.

Matter of the fact is, exotics are now pretty much not serving their purpose. They are easier to get than Legendaries. Does that not seem broken to you? I have about 22 Exotic items now and just barely got 11 legendaries. For every legendary I have I have 2 exotics. You surely can’t say that, that is not ridiculous.

It’s one of very, very few negative things I have to say about destiny. I find it ridiculous how you can’t say anything negative without being attacked by a bunch of fan boys. It’s a game, really. It’s not even a game breaking problem. It just seems weird that exotic items are so easy to get after Bungie stated that they would be “God tier” weapons before release.

          • BAMozzy69 .

Your very first comment stated that your friend got this in the crucible yesterday!!
You can get Exotics by only reaching the first box in the Raid, completing a nightfall, one crucible match etc it the RANDOM nature of the reward system. It is easier to get Legendaries – just because you have 22 doesn’t mean they are less frequent than Legendaries at all! I have had FAR more legendary items than Exotics – some bought but generally far more. I have over 750hrs of game time and probably get 10 legendaries for every exotic however all these get dismantled now. I get far more green than blues, more blues than purples, more purples than yellows so it seems that the system is working in that respect.
The point is the rewards are STILL random. I may not like the way the Rewards seem to be allocated but that’s because they are RANDOM. Is it fair that someone dominates in the crucible and gets no rewards compared to someone who does very badly and gets an Exotic – probably not but its RANDOM. The more you play the more likely you are to get good rewards but due to the RANDOM nature – its NOT guaranteed!
Don’t give me any BS about the Raid as I have completed it MANY times – every week at least 3 times – once with each class. I am still waiting to get many armour pieces yet have nearly all the weapons and had a few exotic weapons too including 5 Visions of Confluence and 4 Praedyths Revenge. I even have the Vex Mythoclast too.
I have over 250 Ascendant Energy and over 200 Ascendent Shards over 3 characters – mostly from doing the Raid but also get 6 a day for just completing the Daily missions.
A friend of mine got Hard Light by opening the first crate on the VoG on his first run another got the Last Word here on his 2nd Run. I got nothing but class items, ascendant materials and chatterwhites on my first 3 runs but thats because the rewards are RANDOM. It doesn’t matter how much you play or how much work you put in – its RANDOM! Just in probability though you have more chance the more you play but still may not get Exotics. I have all but 2 Exotic Weapons and all but 5 Exotic Armour pieces across all 3 classes – I could have had all the Armour by buying from Xur

but those pieces are not important to me and don’t suit my playstyle/need.
Your friend got Mida for FREE as a RANDOM reward. It doesn’t make it any different to those that buy it or also had it as a reward. It doesn’t suddenly make the Mida any worse or less of a weapon.
The point about exotics not being particularly great or better than Legendaries though is a valid point. Of all the Exotics I own, only a handful are the best in class and most can be matched or even outperformed by legendaries. They are the same in terms of Damage but often more quirky than better. According to Bungie though, they have promised but yet to deliver improvements to these.
I certainly don’t rate Mida as being better than quite a number of Legendaries – especially Visions of Confluence but this is a separate issue.
As I have said and will continue to point out that ALL rewards are RANDOM. It means that you could get Mida from playing your very first match in PvP, opening the first box for the first time in the Raid, completing your first Nightfall or maybe never get it as a reward!
I got my Mida as a Reward but I couldn’t care less if Xur sells it or not – same with ANY exotic – It changes NOTHING!

          • Raxs

Force of habit. He got “Universal Remote” in crucible a while back and that lead to confusion. Apologies on my behalf.

I see you are taking way, way too much offence from this and taking it far too seriously. I’m just making a comment that it seems bizarre and unbalanced to have a group of very powerful weapons that take days each to obtain (usually) and can even take weeks of training in some cases to only be handed out by a merchant for a very, very small price, one of which most players can afford every week from a very anti-excessive amount of playtime.

I can confirm my raid team have more Exotics than legendaries also. If you get exotics from “One” match, that means you get them every match. It wasn’t one because they are very infrequent.

I must say I do apologise this has upset you so much. I never though a simple exposure of a system, that really ended up being a tad misdirected, could lead someone to want to express so much over one conversation. I’m pretty much finished here. I can already see the repetition as you cover the same points over and over again. Clearly you aren’t getting bored, but I am. Don’t be so sensitive over a comment about a game. Other people have different views, you don’t have to force everyone to think the same as you, alright?

          • BAMozzy69 .

I am certainly not taking offence or being sensitive. The point is Xur has and will continue to sell Exotics – including the Mida. It has been known since day one (if not before) that Xur could and now has sold this weapon along with all the armour too. Is it disappointing to get an exotic piece of armour you didn’t have and then see Xur sell it a week or so later -not to me it isn’t so why should a weapon be different?
I could understand if the weapon sold was one of the exotic weapon bounty items like Thorn for example or even the Vex but all other weapons could and probably will be sold by Xur at some point.
Xur’s exotic loot is not a new concept in fact it was known he would visit before the game released and the items he could sell too.
The point you seem to miss is that ALL rewards are Random regardless – just because your friend got lucky with the way he got his Mida doesn’t make a difference. I was rewarded with mine as well as weapons like Suros, Icebreaker, the Last Word, Gjallahorn etc etc all of which have been sold by Xur too. It certainly doesn’t upset me to see these items sold as I knew they would/could be!
I bet you have bought things from Xur and been awarded Exotics too as have the majority of players but it doesn’t change anything.
Your friend basically could have been rewarded with 23 strange coins instead as that was the value of the reward. Just because Mida can be sold doesn’t make it less of a reward or less of a weapon!
Being upset by this is pathetic. I bet if he sold a weapon he didn’t have he would be happy to buy it!

          • Raxs

Like I said, I’m not reading huge comments. I scanned through, and yes of course I buy exotics from Xur, its the main reason why I have so many exotics. I mainly do it because there is not a chance in hell I’ll ever get half of them otherwise. All exotics should be rewards from big challenges. The Vex, Thorn and Pocket Infinity have the right ideas about it. I usually don’t even use half the exotics I have (I have way too much to even do so). And honestly, I usually don’t use Xur’s sellings because they feel cheep. Thorn and the Vex echo an awesome story because of their trail. The thing that usually makes exotics great for me is the story of how I got them. When I get them from a merchant for 2 hours work it just feels cheep and undeserved. I’m not that fussed because the DLC is changing all of that anyway.

When Xur sells one you already had it feels like you wasted your time getting it, really. An entire raid’s rewards can just be obtained by “turning up” on the weekend pretty much. Exotics simply didn’t live up to their reputations.

He wouldn’t “be happy to buy it”. He just would because he may as well. He wasn’t genuinely upset, he was a bit agitated for about 2 mins then just sucked it up and got on with it. The concern is that these weapons could have been so much more than just pickings on the weekend. It was a big part of the game that got cut short. That’s pretty much all there is to say. I am seeing the same points being repeated so I’m pretty certain there is nothing left to say.

  • BAMozzy69 .

Only thing I don’t have is No Backup Plans for the Titan but doubt I will buy these. I bought 3 Void Drives last weekend, may buy a Stealth Drive just to see how that looks.

  • Thomas Crane

I blew some motes of light this morning. I got the Knucklehead Radar hat for my hunter. I wish I had the strange coins last week to get the last week.
