Gheleon’s Demise: Guardians who wish to have the hardest hitting rifles possible need to look no further than Gheleon’s Demise. While its availability is limited to being a drop in this season’s Iron Banner, this scout rifle hits like a truck but has the lowest maximum rate of fire.

In the Crucible, it can be used as a substitute for a sniper rifle on maps like the Shores of Time, and in PvE, it can stop most smaller enemies with a single shot once upgraded. Highly recommended as an alternative to the Badger CCL currently offered by the Vanguard Quartermaster as it also has more bullets in a magazine compared to the Badger.

B-Line Trauma: Sold by the Crucible Quartermaster, this scout rifle exchanges high impact per shot for one of the fastest rates of fire possible in a scout rifle. For Guardians looking for a fairly similar alternative to the MIDA Multi-Tool, the Trauma is very close with the added benefit of being able to switch optics on the fly if needed.

While you may not be winning fights at extremely close ranges in the Crucible with this weapon, it is still an effective weapon that allows one to potentially contest the kill times of the more popular auto rifles, especially on maps like Blind Watch and Shores of Time.

Silimar’s Wrath: For those who have the determination and persistence to get through the Iron Banner, the stock version of Silimar’s Wrath comes with virtually no recoil once upgraded and appropriately modified.

While it lacks much of the impact per shot of weapons like the old Shadow Price, the Wrath is functionally similar to Atheon’s Epilogue, albeit with a higher attack rating, no elemental damage, and a more pleasing aesthetic.

If you enjoy low impact, high rate of fire auto rifles, consider going through the Iron Banner this season, or waiting until the next season for it to drop in the post game rewards screen, if the current Iron Banner weapon drop trend still holds true.

Perun’s Fire: While it may lack the versatility of Murmur, and the pure destructive potential of the new Vanguard and Crucible fusion rifles, those fortunate enough to find Perun’s Fire in the latest season of the Iron Banner may find this well balanced fusion rifle to their liking.

With a decently fast charge rate, Perun’s Fire is an excellent alternative to shotguns in the Crucible, being fast enough to stop a Titan before they shoulder charge you into oblivion if primed quick enough. Be warned though that most if not all of the bolts have to connect with the target to kill in the Crucible, otherwise you will have to switch weapons.

Black Hammer Crota’s End 32 12 3 35 88 55

Efrideet’s Spear: If there was ever a reason to compete in the Iron Banner, Efrideet’s Spear makes a compelling case. With an impact rating that is only matched by the raid sniper rifle the Black Hammer, the Spear is for those situations where you need whatever you are aiming at to die.

While the Hammer may be able to do more damage without reloading on the account of it’s unique perk, Efrideet’s Spear is a very enticing alternative. When purchased in its default form from Lord Saladin, the Spear can allow you to pick up roughly 12-14 bullets per green ammo box, shoot through walls to kill pesky enemies who think that they are safe behind cover, and literally cause heads to explode.

LDR 5001: If you missed out on the chance to obtain Icebreaker, fear not, for the LDR is a very nice alternative. With an impact rating that matches the Ice Breaker and The Supremacy (from the Queens Wrath event), the LDR can easily do just as much damage to a single target.

While you may lament the fact that you cannot regenerate ammo, you can rejoice and make fun of those who rely on Icebreaker when your shots from the LDR go through walls. Not only that, but since it relies on traditional ammo, this rifle can potentially do more damage than the Ice Breaker in a shorter period of time.

Against All Odds: A weapon that may seem familiar to those who were fortunate to receive Jolder’s Hammer, Against All Odds has a similar impact rating, albeit with much less stability.

For those who aren’t familiar with Jolder’s Hammer, the impact rating allows for you to effectively kill in 3 or 4 bullets in the Crucible, and with the low rate of fire, the stability is slightly less problematic.

In PvE, expect to be able to stagger tough enemies with the massive impact per bullet, but keep in mind that distance is still your friend as machine guns of this impact rating are essentially automatic scout rifles on steroids.

Like a couple other guns in the game, the actual size of the magazine when playing with it is not the same as what the tooltip/datamine says it is. For example, Truth still supposedly has 2 rockets if you believe the tooltip or datamines.

    Cool article based on https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1WLX98Qky8foigPA1JHg-38C6CED2IVEOhi7fCnWmsaY/edit#gid=0.

Anyone tried doing an actual damage comparison between these weapons, for instance a lvl 30 guardian against lvl 30 mob precision damage X, body damage Y (at low, mid, high range; at 300 and 331 attack). I would love to see such a comparison, as it would give us a perfect idea how different impact and attack affect the direct damage.

  • Theemo Deman

PvE is the same stats, not sure what you’re looking for.

  • BAMozzy69 .

    Very interesting article!

  • BAMozzy69 .

Looking at the ‘stats’, The Crotas End weapons (apart from Black Hammer) don’t seem that impressive. I don’t yet have the Black Hammer or Light of the Abyss to compare. I do however have the Swordbreaker, Song of Ir Yut and Hunger of Crota. Not overly impressed by Swordbreaker but I rarely use Shotguns. Hunger of Crota is the same. Song of Ir Yut though is ok and reminds me a bit of Corrective Measure. Aesthetically though they are great.
Generally though I am not overly impressed by the new legendaries. Many of the old Legendaries felt better and had better stats – well apart from the attack stat. The new AR’s seem to be low impact, high ROF, low stability but I prefer high impact, good stability and ROF. I don’t mind high impact snipers as it seems the new ones are even if they have a low ROF comparatively. I really want Black Hammer!
Whilst its great to be able to have 331 attack stats of the Exotics, I had hoped that we would get some equivalent new Legendaries to the old ones or at least upgrade attack stats.
I do think though they handled the upgrade system of the exotics in the wrong way but thats a topic for a different thread. Still not managed to get ‘Hard Light’ yet and still have 6 of the 17 others at pre-expansion attack levels. I hope they give us the opportunity to upgrade the Vex as its currently one of my lowest attack rated weapons – lower than my Universal Remote, Bad Juju, Thorn etc and lower than all the new Legendaries too

    • Credit for what…? This is public information that’s found in our (or any) database – http://db.planetdestiny.com/items/weapons?tier=24&sort=name

Fascinating then that you included the same formatting, errors, and typos that I did.

        • there’s no errors/typos

          • Chippy569

your site conveniently does not show edit stamps, and it clearly has been edited since your youtube videos’ publishing dates are later than your article publishing date (which is also a mere 3 days after my reddit post), so I wouldn’t be surprised if you’ve edited the post right before you edited the comment i’m replying to, which originally stated “what errors/typos?”

However, i’d love to hear you explain why you listed the mythoclast as a scout rifle, as I did, and not as a fusion rifle, as your and everyone’s DB says it is, and not as an lmg or auto rifle, which your own site’s review states it to be like.

I’d also like to know why you chose the order of weapon types you did, because I picked mine by personal preference, so it’s a funny coincidence that yours is the same way. Further, you’ve listed every weapon within each group in the exact same order, even though when I made my tables, while being sorted by impact/ROF I then randomly selected the order within each subgroup. And yet in each group yours is identical. Oh and your own horizontal columns are out of order against your own database, which wouldn’t make sense if you had compiled them yourself, but instead they conveniently match mine, which I had put in as people requested them.

Just man up and admit you copied my work and then edited to fit your site.

Love the site, but IF this was taken from Reddit, please give credit where it is due. Not sure if it was or just datamined from the database, but the dude that had this similar post on reddit is claiming it was taken:

    Great job stealing from Reddit!

  • NobleWarrior

There are flaws in categorizing weapons by stats, each weapon is all up to personal preference and some weapons will have different purposes which will require a different fighting style.
