Patience and Time

One of our first Exotic reviews, this sniper still holds up as one of the best. It’s utility in PvE and amazing stability and ammo count for PvP make this a top tier sniper.

Helm of Saint-14d599cf6261b9d0da45f6659d1d7e5305

This futuristic ‘Roman-style’ helm is a PvE standout in more ways than one. It’s the ultimate Defender Exotic, turning the Ward of Dawn into an offensive powerhouse as well as a defensive one. This will be upgraded with Y2.

The 118/125 Intellect roll is average, maxing out at 137.

Talents

  • Rain Blows – Increases melee attack speed.
  • Inverse Shadow – Increased Super energy gained from killing minions of the Darkness.
  • Starless Night – Your Ward of Dawn blinds enemies who enter it.

Should I buy it?

This is one of the best PvE Defender Exotics, so buy it if you don’t have one, or buy Exotic helm Engrams to try and get a better roll on it.

Its pure Intellect pairs perfectly with Inverse Shadow, as both guarantee loads of Super Energy from enemy kills to ensure you have your Bubble rocking as often as possible. Once enemies enter your dominion, they’ll be helpless, stumbling, and blind thanks to “Starless Night”. This leaves you free to eliminate them with the help of Rain Blows or the weapon of your choice.

The ability to use Ward of Dawn as crowd control is a delight in all sorts of content, and secures Saint-14’s spot as a top-tier PvE Exotic.

As for PvP, although the Intellect helps with Ward of Dawn’s cooldown, the rest of the perks just don’t quite fit. A monster in PvE, Inverse Shadow is literally useless in the Crucible, and the blinding will only be useful against anyone without enough sense to come charging in.

Khepri’s Sting4c9311e223003ef2d1e63d55112eaf2d

Only sold 1 time before, this subclass neutral Exotic gives Gunslinger a taste of Invisibility, even without Shadowjack to make it practical – but this is a Bladedancer’s best friend, first and foremost.

The 91 Strength roll is average, maxing out at 121.

Talents

  • Primary Weapon Loader: Increased reload speed with Primary Weapons.
  • Invigoration: Reduces melee cooldown each time you pick up an Orb of Light.
  • Touch of Venom: Gain invisibility after crouching in place for a short time. Melee attacking an enemy from behind while invisible delivers 4x damage.

Should I buy it?

This Exotic frees you up to spec both Hungering Blade and Stalker; this alone makes it quite strong. Pure Strength assists with Escape Artist recharge times, which is crucial to take advantage of the Exotic perk.

While it requires some micro-managing on your cooldown times and positioning, it can handle dangerous enemies quite well, even applying a DoT when they aren’t immediately killed. Invigoration is an OK addition, but Primary Weapon Loader shouldn’t be overlooked for its rarity and usefulness with certain Scout Rifles and Hand Cannons.

Invisibility is a little less useful in PvP but Stalker and Hungering Blade are never without utility. Pure Strength is probably the least helpful stat allocation, as proc’ing Escape Artist is often a death sentence unless succinctly timed with a killing melee strike. Primary Weapon Loader is still a noteworthy perk though.

Obsidian Mind40b82aa77ca13b6dcb2d4aaa76d27b74

It’s been awhile since this was sold, and you’ll definitely want to pick this up if you’re a Voidwalker. It’s fun and very powerful in the right circumstances.

Another average roll: 57/60 Intellect & 52/55 Strength, both maxing out at 77.

Talents

  • Energy Projection – Increases grenade throw distance.
  • Inverse Shadow – Increased Super energy gained from killing minions of the Darkness.
  • Insatiable – Nova Bomb kills reduce the cooldown of your next Nova Bomb.

Should I buy it?

If you love using Nova Bomb, the Insatiable perk will decrease the cooldown on your Nova Bomb every time you kill something with it, which sometimes can allow your Super to recharge instantly. Coupling this with Inverse Shadow, in PvE, this helm is going to cause you to wreck havoc.

It’s recommended that you use Bad JuJu with Obsidian Mind, as kills with that weapon will further increase your Super recharge speed!

Voidwalker’s Soul Rip, Annihilate, and Bloom talents will allow you to maximize your damage with the Nova Bomb. Soul Rip allows Energy Drain to reduce the cooldown of your Nova Bomb and Annihilate/Bloom will make your Nova Bomb deadlier.
