SUROS Regimesuros regime review

Not necessarily as strong as before, its still an incredibly balanced weapon and is often seen in the Crucible because of its high stability.

Check out how we place it in our PvP and PvE Exotic tier list.

Should I buy it?

Yes, at least for PvP. In PvE the damage reduction from the latest patch doesn’t make it an optimal choice, but in the Crucible it’s still a force to be reckoned with.

It does have decent utility in Crota’s End HM if you don’t have something else to regenerate health.

Our review was published many months before the AR nerf, but check it out if you’d like to get a feel for the weapon before buying it. We will update the text review very soon.

Stats Compared to Other

  • Above Average: Stability, Impact, Range
  • Below Average: Reload Speed

Notable Perks

  • Focused Fire: When zoomed, this weapon fires slower, but causes additional damage.
  • SUROS Regime: The bottom half of each magazine deals bonus damage and has a chance to return health when dealing damage.

The Armamentariumthe armamentarium exotic titan

There’s no short of good things we can say about this subclass-neutral chest, we ranked it high in both or PvP and PvE tier list.

Unfortunately it’s got a below average 114/122 Discipline roll, while the max is 170.

  • Special Weapon Ammo – Increases the amount of Special Weapon ammunition you can carry.
  • Heavy Weapon Ammo – Increases the amount of Heavy Weapon ammunition you can carry.
  • Grenade Booster – Carry an additional grenade.

Should I buy it?

“Armamentarium” means “the medicines, equipment, and techniques available to a medical practitioner.” The chest is the equipment, and you’re the ‘medical’ Titan, prescribing grenades for your enemies. In short: buy it.

The Armamentarium has perks mostly centered around carrying more, which is extremely versatile. This armor is built for those Titans who love to deal heavy damage.

An additional grenade, with more heavy and special ammo (about 40% more) means you’re a walking armory, ready to throw some serious punches.

The perks are so great because they don’t limit you to a specific secondary weapon or particular grenade type, while giving the added bonus of holding more heavy ammo.

The double grenade feature is especially beneficial to the Striker since they can crowd control with the AoE Pulse or Lightning Grenades and disorient enemies with the Flashbang.

ATS/8 ARACHNIDats/8 arachnid exotic hunter

Its key ability will enhance the zoom of your Golden Gun, allowing you to get more precision shots.

The Golden Gun does more damage with precision shots, so this helm may help you take advantage of that.

This helmet has 66/72 Discipline and 62/67 Strength, both excellent rolls.

  • Light the Blade – Causing damage with a grenade reduces your melee cooldown.
  • Ashes to Asset – Replenish Super energy when you kill an enemy with a grenade.
  • Arachnid Sensorium – Your Golden Gun zooms in for accuracy when aimed.

Should I buy it?

The Golden Gun is already accurate when aiming down sights, and the enhanced zoom from the ATS/8 ARACHNID cuts down your field of view further, and isn’t really necessary or useful in most situations.

The other perks on the helm work very well, revolving around your grenades, allowing you to use your Super and melee ability more often.

Unfortunately the enhanced zoom very lackluster and provides no real benefit. Only use this if you’re going to accurately use your grenades liberally, or actually think the zoom is helpful.

Because this helm increases the Golden Gun zoom, don’t use the Over the Horizon and Deadeye talents.

Starfire Protocolstarfire protocol exotic review

Starfire Protocol was the only Exotic chest that was introduced with The Dark Below expansion, and we haven’t seen in a few months.

It has a decent roll of 133/143 Intellect.

  • Fusion Rifle Ammo – Increases the amount of Fusion Rifle ammunition you can carry.
  • Heavy Weapon Ammo – Increases the amount of Heavy Weapon ammunition you can carry.
  • Starfire Protocol – Gain an additional Fusion Grenade.

Should I buy it?

Its main perk will give you an additional fusion grenade, but this does not stack with the Gift of the Sun talent, so you can only hold 2 grenades. While this does pigeonhole you into taking Fusion grenades, it does free up the Angel of Light or Touch of Flame talent.

Touch of Flame allows your Fusion grenades to always ignite enemies, and in PvP this will help finish off anyone who you failed to stick the grenade to. Double this with Viking Funeral for extra ignite damage!

This chest piece will also increase your fusion rifle ammo and heavy ammo reserves, similar to the Heart of the Praxic Fire.

The Intellect on this armor increases the charge rate of Radiance, getting your double Fusion grenades back quicker than they would normally.

Whether you should buy it or not comes down to how much you enjoy the Fusion grenades.

  • Kenshiro Genjuro

Based on this trend of Xur selling everything not long after I get it, people waiting for Thunderload or Patience in Crime probably won’t have to much longer, but will never get Jellyhoard.

    • Edwin

P&T is still on my whishlist 🙂

  • Drazaeus

I might pick up that warlock chest, sets you up nicely for a fusion burn loadout

  • sbrozzi

I have been playing since the Beta and never had a Suros drop (missed it when he sold it before). Buying it from Xur was not how I wanted to achieve it. Thanks to RNGesus though, now that I have bought one, I will probably have three drop for me next week during the NFs & Raids!

    • Edwin

I would dismantle it, just in case :p

    • I’m a lvl 31warlock on xbox

Me too I bought mine from xur and in the nightfall my friend got ghorn I got skull of dire akharama

    • guest

why does buying it from xur make any difference?
id rather have it than not have it imo

      • DiamondDNice

        no. same gun

    • Monosocratic

This idea of “earning” exotics only through a random drop at the end of an event really needs to end. The only difference between getting an exotic at the end of a nightfall, and using coins that you acquired from same weekly event to purchase one from Xur is that your idea of “earning” an exotic is based off of pure luck, not skill.

      • sbrozzi

I’m not making a judgement about buying vs. “earning”. Personally, I didn’t want to buy SR. I have put in an embarrassing amount of hours into Destiny and just wanted to get that thrill from a “drop”. Of course I bought the gun this morning, because I want to use the gun & not risk NEVER getting it because of RNG.

        • The Weej

While I do agree with Mono in general, you did bring up an interesting point. Maybe the reason that players feel that random drops are more rewarding is the fact that it’s an unknown and has a bit more surprise and excitement. Personally, I don’t care how I get my hands on the exotics. 2 more to go… 🙂

        • sbrozzi

Ya, I actually got Suros Regime tonight from Ir Yut on hard mode… Unbelievable. So there is some kind of loot table I guess? If Xur sells it one week it has a higher chance to drop the next?

  • Keith Christmas

Oh god, Suros. Finally! *cries tears of joy*

Just two more exotics left to get. Just two…

    • MakkinjeM

Same here. Only did the SUROS drop 10 days ago for me. It was bound to be sold 1 or 2 Xûr’s later, and there you go.

Lemme guess; Thunderlord and Necrochasm, or Gjallarhorn and Necrochasm.
      Am I right? 😀

Thunderlord and Necrochasm are the ones i’m still missing.

      • Keith Christmas

You literally couldn’t be more wrong 🙂

I got my first Ghorn when Xur sold it. The second dropped from Atheon, but since I already had one and only a single character at the time, I sharded it. Boy, did I ever regret that. Although I was rather happy when I got another from a legendary engram about a month ago

Thunderlord, I did not see for a long, long time. Maybe 5 weeks ago, I finally got one from the deathsinger drop (on hard, after all my team got dropped taking her down, and I had to solo the remaining adds. I have had very few weapons that felt more earned). About a week later, I had another drop from a legendary engram. This was no more than a week after getting my third Ghorn from a legendary. I got a third Thunderlord from this week’s nightfall.

I got the crux on maybe my tenth run of hard Crota. Already had Eidolon Ally ready to go. It’s as bad as everyone says it is.

No, all I’m missing now are Plan C, which I’ve managed to miss every single time Xur has sold it, and Patience and Time.

  • Password?

Just when you’re about to walk away something fun pops up. Thanks Xur. You’re not an entirely heartless dink after all.

  • Hollow Score

Same. No Suros, Truth or Ghorn so far. Played nearly daily since the beta. What a broken loot system, huh? Now that the Suros has been nerfed into obsolescence this feels really hollow. Hopefully they will put the autorifles back where they were one day, now that no one uses them.

    • dbushik

And by “broken”, you mean “random”? Pretty much everyone has one or two exotics they haven’t gotten due to the random nature of the drops. You may not like that, but it’s a feature, not “broken”. Try taking it for what it is instead of feeling entitled. All three exotics you mention have been sold by Xur. I missed Ghorn too, but we were given the chance to own it.

      • stephen

Oh where are you my dear Thunderlord. ):

  • Jason Peterson

Seems to be a growing trend that Xúr sells the better exotic Armor pieces at very low rolls, then 4-5 weeks later has a high statted upgrade for them.

  • Illwill_55$

Pretty good Xur pull for those who haven’t picked up Suros yet. I feel kinda bad for ppl though cause it really a shell of its former self … for no good reason I might add

    • guest

i think its still awesome in pvp. but pve yeah its not as good, but still the most stable auto rifle

    • Monks Mercs

Yeah! I’m soo glad to finally have it after grinding every day on 360. I wish I could feel it’s original power tho. I’ll be picking up the Titan chest piece as well. Great site!

    • ProfessionalCitizen

For very good reason, in my opinion. Don’t get me wrong, I think auto rifles could use a slight buff (operative word slight) but they were stupidly dominant before. Nowdays we have an interesting mix of pulse rifles and hand cannons, with a small but substantial amount of auto and scout rifles mixed in. I for one, thoroughly enjoy the variety encouraged by the latest balancing.

      • Illwill_55$

I’d have to respectively disagree. I have never been a AR user but I can say that now in pvp ARs have simply been replaced by PRs with no balance to speak of. Suppose everyone’s playing experience is different. Instead of your average player picking up any AR with ok stats now it’s just your average player picking up a PR with decent stats. The scales wernt balanced they were just simply tipped too far the other way. Really didn’t effect me since I’m a Thorn / Mida/ Fang/ TLW/ The Chance kind of guy in pvp and only play it when a good 5K bounty pops up , but I will say on the “lazy” pve days or a non burn nightfall I do miss my now dusty Suros. So .. buff back ARs in pve imo, in pvp ARs being horrid don’t have an effect on my style

  • Ars3nal619

Still think Weapon Drops should have slighter better performance than bought from Xur. 331 vs 320? Kinda feel cheated when i get a drop and then its sold by Xur.

    • Bob

What about me who’s been playing the game since day 1 and never had RNGesus bless me? I’ve done multiple nightfalls and a few raids and never once got it dropped. I actually had to earn the strange coins to get it. So who was more cheated? Me or you?

      • The Weej

I couldn’t agree more. I don’t understand why players feel that being randomly gifted an exotic after a Nighftall/Raid is somehow more genuine than purchasing from Xur… As someone else said above, that mentality really needs to go away.

        • Bob

Exactly. Who cares how you got the gun you wanted as long as you have it. Although I have to admit 1.1.1 turned the Suros Regime (all Auto Rifles for that matter) into a shell of its former self.

  • Aaron

And i just got my suros fron crota last week. 4 dry weeks so far

  • Jason Kral

Of course, I get SUROS to drop in nightfall, and he sells it the same weekend…

  • Alex Howden

And the return of the scumbag gun, greeeeeaaaattt. Well that gun going to be the only one I see for the next week in crucible, F’ing stuiped auto rifle that shouldn’t exist.

    • Bob

1.1.1 destroyed that gun. People will use it for a few days then switch back to Thorn like they always do.

  • Jeff

Had enough notes of light to buy the engram and got armamentarium, with a better roll.
