Worth Buying?

No CoAL in your stocking this week! This famous Y1 re-release hasn’t been changed from its first iteration; you get one more grenade per subclass, plain and simple. As the perk hasn’t changed, the quality of the perk can only shift with the meta. Because PvE can not fully be mastered with excessive grenade use, Y2 Armamentarium gets a high A tier compared to its S in Y1.

The challenges in Y2 require a bit more finesse, but the benefits of being able to load up two genades for immediate use are incredibly obvious. Two Lightning Grenades? Two Magnetic Grenades? Two Incendiary Grenades? Titans in PvE and PvP alike can benefit immensely from this simple but devastating perk.

Twist Fate? Maybe

As you’re guaranteed the all-important Special/Heavy boosts, it just comes down to increasing the Armor value for your favorite subclass. This week, Defenders will have maximum Armor when the Armamentarium is fully leveled. If you run Striker or Sunbreaker, you’ll want Arc Armor or Solar Armor, respectively. I also might prefer some Intellect, but you’re going to have that Discipline no matter how many times you re-roll.

Worth Buying?

The much-beloved Super Jumpy Boots Bones of Eao return from Y1 to put a spring in your Hunter’s step. For this reason, it lives and dies by its intrinsic perk; they might as well be Legendary Boots if extra mobility won’t get you anywhere. Thankfully, it usually does, so I’d still give these babies a high B tier. You might find them to have S or C reliability, but according to my own guidelines, they’re specialized enough that I have to give them the more niche rating.

These can be extremely fun to use when you’re looking to speed across the battlefield, or curious about that hard-to-reach ledge and what may lie beyond it – but for optimizing your build, they are not at or even near the top of the pack. Still, for an example of where the Bones are right at home, check out this wildly fun Crota Speed Run.

However, for PvP, traversing the environment is usually secondary to engaging its inhabitants, so the Bones are out-of-place in the Crucible.

Twist Fate? No

You already landed the best possible Special Ammo bonus: more Sniper Rifle ammunition. Beyond that, extra Machine Gun ammo is fantastic for Super Good Advice or Qullim’s Terminus. Intellect/Discipline is a great split roll, though Nightstalkers might prefer Strength in lieu of Discipline. Void double down is as good as your best Void weapon – but considering you got a Void 1KYS with Firefly for free at the beginning of TTK, you should be set to proc this occasionally. Blood Bound will do the trick too.

Worth Buying?

It’s back in Y2 and this marks the first time its been sold! You may remember The Ram for being the biggest pain in the Shaxx in Y1 Crucible. Thankfully, Bungie has toned down the Armor bonus, but you can still stack it with an elemental Armor perk + max Armor to survive a few important things in the Crucible. Voidwalkers should know that it ups their melee and durability game in PvE, though it’s hard to beat a Flame Shield and self-rez. The Ram is an excellent Exotic, even if it isn’t a PvE standout first and foremost, earning a solid B tier there.

Twist Fate? Yes

For PvE, you’re definitely going to want to re-roll. You can land Inverse Shadow 50% of the time, so it would hardly be a waste to try a couple times. Regardless, any perk in that column is going to be useless for PvP, where there are no “minions of the darkness” to be found. Inverse Shadow/Heavy Lifting + Infusion for PvE, and either for PvP since neither are going to proc often enough to be significant.
