No Major Changes Before Launch

According to Dualshockers.com, Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg said that he’s ready to have a great launch, and that he does not think there needs to be any big changes before the release of the game in 9/9/14.

In a financial conference recently he spoke on the success of the beta saying,

The good news is because we got 4.6 million players into the beta we were able to test the back-end in scale and it performed really well and stably.

When asked about updates to the game before its release, he said that some alternations would be made.

As you might imagine, we learned a lot by watching players engage with the game and hearing their feedback and Bungie is now making tweaks to optimize the game and they actually did so after the alpha as well, so that’s going to be, I think, an ongoing process to make it a better experience, and nothing is more important to us or to Bungie than delivering a great experience to our community and the beta certainly helped us do that. But I would describe these as tweaks and not major changes as we saw the fundamentals of the game to be very strong.

As for improved graphics, according to DeeJ, they’re aiming for 1080p on all platforms. The only other change they’ve announced is for the Interceptor.

Were you all hoping for any “major changes?” Or with the big fixes and tweaks, do you think Destiny is ready to ship?

In other news, Destiny is tracking towards an “industry record for a new intellectual property.” Activision believes it will be the largest new intellectual property launch in videogame history, according to their 2014 second quarter financial report.

I don’t see any particularly huge changes that should be made aside from maybe finding a way to integrate voice communication a little more. I really just can’t wait to test out my ideas in regards to my preferred play style and build. And I really want to get in and see how the second subclass I want looks. Keep it up Bungie!

  • Matt Dunnigan

I only ran into a few glitches during the Beta. Nothing I bet Bungie could not handle and not too much of a problem in my opinion. I hope the final version would be at its greatest when I get it. Go for it Bungie!!!

  • Ashley Kalym

I didn’t have any glitches during the beta, and only one during the alpha, and I put in some serious play time for both. I was playing on PS4 and the whole experience was simply awesome!

Ryan, you did it again, last paragraph, you claim the game will have better graphics, can you please refer us to your source or atleast tell us where you hear that!!

Im more concerned with “each console”, as I’ve only hard about the Xbox One.

Thanks it just sound more legit with a name behind it,
Though I couldnt find anything online.

Are the graphics reeeeaaaally gonna be improved ? at least on ps4 and xbox1 they were amazing, if they upgrade them even more it’s goona be sick, but i think the graphic appartment will stay like we saw it on the beta, i don’t want to hype even more XD.

But if you could paste the link where they communicated the graphic improvement it would be nice.

    • “We are aiming for 1080p on all platforms.” from DeeJ, during the IGN livestream

      • Jeuthy

then, the only graphic upgrade will be for xbox1 from 900p to 1080p, I really doubt they reach 1080p on the ps3 or xbox 360.

        • Yhgi117

I’m not sure about the PS3, but I know that the has Xbox 360 supported 1080p gaming since the October 2006 Title Update, but only using a HDMI cable, not Component or AV.

          • Jeuthy

most of the “1080p” games both on PS3 and xbox360 are truly 720p upscaled to 1080p, only few games run at a native 1080p on both consoles

          • Yhgi117

I am aware of that, but the way Deej has phrased it makes it sound as they are aiming for native 1080p as opposed to just up scaling it form 720p.

          • Jeuthy

Maybe, but i really doubt ps3 and xbox360 could handle a 1080p native resolution, remmember, Xbox1 couldn’t till they allowed them to use the extra power that was destined to kinect. You have to remember both consoles are 7 or 8 years old hardware, you’re hopping for a miracle. I stay on the same, they’ll remain 720p native and it could be even less than that (we have seen it on other games on that gen), yeah the way Deej say it make it sound like that, but come on, we have to be realistics.

          • Yhgi117

Yeah, I see where you’re coming from. It really was just wishful thinking on my part. I’m still on my 360 for Destiny, but I don’t mind.

          • Jeuthy

Tahts the point, with or without a graphical improvement on any console, this is a game everyone should play no matter what =D, have a nice journey on the game.

          • Yhgi117

You too. I’ll see you starside, Guardian.

Awesome! 1080p on Xbox 360 would really make my day. Just played Crysis 3 in 1080p on Xbox 360 and it looked amazing. (Story was meh).

Countdown is on! One month to go! Daily updates are getting me even more excited by the day having played the Beta!

I am hoping to see 2 “major changes”:
1)add the option to swtich between first and third person at any time…or at least on the battlefield…i really want to see how cool i am when i’m fighting, not when i’m socializing. If you watch youtube’s videos, there are a lot of players who really hope to see this option in the full game.
    2) if at point 1 will be added this option i would hope to see my face without mask in some combats because: what’s the point in creating your face if you’re not able to see it the majority of time?…(actually you can see it only in the tower)

  • Petr Švancara

Yes, i totally agree, it would be more than sweet if the players can see their created faces all the time, I mean, you can stil have helmet, or mask, but it would be smart if you can have an option for changing it, if you want. Helmet itself should be invisible, and of course if you want, helmet can be aslo visible. These options should be added to the game. I think its the only thing that I wanted in the game. Yes of course there are a numerous ways how many characters can look like, but the option to see your current face would be even cooler in the terms of characters difference.
Bungie please add this option to the final version of the game! PLEASE!
Characters designs are so good, many people have their unique faces, and if we can see them in story gameplay or crucible, then it would be even better. And for those who dont want to see their faces? Even for those would be this options available, just imagine if you can turn your helmet on or off. Helmet (On / Off) visible or invisible, is this a hard change to the game that cant be added? I hope not. Bungie please, make those helmets visible or invisible for players who want it. Other wise your game is excellent!
