Destiny Loot Farming Guides

Earlier in the week we shared this guide for loot farming. While it still is good, the amount of enemies doesn’t compare to this mission on the Moon!

This video by High0nPCP explains what is definitely one of the best loot farming locations, especially if you’re level 20. You’ll get Engrams relatively quickly, due to how easy it is to mow down these Hive Thralls.

For massive amounts of Glimmer, be sure to use a Black Wax Idol (in your inventory) while you farm.

  • Auto rifle is a great choice.
  • Do not kill the Knight, let him eventually kill you – that’s what starts the checkpoint over.
  • You’ll earn more Glimmer using your Black Wax Idols with the Heroic modifier.

Another great way to farm Engrams is at this the Skywatch on Earth (Patrol). M4giX312 has a video explaining what to do and where to go.

Remember, as with just about all the loot in Destiny, it’s random! Destiny isn’t the type of game where you’ll easily have the best gear in the first few weeks, but sometimes you get lucky.

You can attempt to maximize your profits by taking down the most enemies in the quickest amount of time, but ultimately not much is going to guarantee you a certain loot drop.

I’ve done the first one on the moon twice for an hour each time. Got 1 legendary and 7 rare engrams first time and 7 rares the second time. Didn’t end up with anything purple but it’s taken me from 20 to 23 between those and the 4 rares I got from leveling up Cryptarch rank.

I tried to do the second one at the cosmodrome but I couldn’t get it. I got the enemies to respawn twice but i had to chase them down and it wasn’t working. Guess because I was by myself.

Doing the moon mission farm, I’ve gotten 7 legendary engrams, and too many rares to remember. Sadly, only three of those legendary engrams gave me legendary loot. However, one of them gave me the the ‘Thunderlord’ machine-gun. The rest were just rares that I had to scrap 😛
I did the other method the other day with a group of people, and got tons of uncommons, but few rares and no legendary. But the drop rate of rares and legendaries only really improves as your level increases. The lowest level I’ve seen a rare at was level 11, so I assume once you near that level, they start to show up more often, since loot is leveled.
Because of this, I’ve decided to farm on Earth with lower leveled characters, and farm the moon mission with those above level 12.
