Dragon’s Breathdark below dragons breath

A “meh” Exotic… nothing really stands out besides its awesome design. Unlike Truth or Gjallarhorn, you’ll need to be more careful when aiming because of the lack of tracking, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing but still something to keep in mind.

Check out our full review and also how we place it in our PvP and PvE Exotic tier list. We also have a video comparing it to the other Exotic launchers.

Should I buy it?

Probably not. The low velocity doesn’t put it in a good spot in PvP, and the lack of tracking doesn’t make it a desirable choice in PvE. It’s also got the third-lowest reload speed for rocket launchers, and even it’s unique perk isn’t that useful.

Dragon’s Breath really feels like a middle ground between the Exotic rocket launchers, and honestly isn’t better overall than either of them. This weapon has a lot going for it, but its cons overshadow the pros.

It takes some things from the other launchers like 3 in the tube and an effect after the initial explosion, but it lacks tracking which is invaluable for fighting tougher enemies.

Dragon’s Breath isn’t a bad weapon by any stretch of the imagination, and for some people in some situations, it may even preform better than the other Exotic launchers.

Alternatives (Exotic Launcher Comparison)

Stats Compared to Other Launchers

  • Above Average: Rate of Fire, Stability
  • Average: Velocity, Reload Speed

Notable Perks

  • Tripod: This launcher’s tube can hold three shells.
  • Pyromancer: Rounds fired from this weapon leave a Solar Flare upon detonation.

The Glasshousethe glasshouse exotic helm

Recently placed in tier 2 of our Titan Exotic ranking in both PvP & PvE, The Glasshouse is designed for Defender Titans who are adamant about increasing the effectiveness of Blessing and Weapons of Light.

This helm has an above average 110/118 Intellect roll.

  • Rain Blows – Increases melee attack speed.
  • Quintessence Transfer – Replenish Super energy when you kill an enemy with a grenade.
  • Bathed in Light – Blessing of Light and Weapons of Light last longer.

Should I buy it?

Bathed in Light will extend the duration of either of those talents by 5 seconds, allowing it to stay active for a total of 15 seconds.

Blessing of Light grants you and any allies who pass through the shield a bonus shield that stacks on top of your existing health. This shield normally has 65 health (boosted to 95 with the Illumination talent). If the shield is damaged or destroyed, you can simply step back into your Ward to regenerate it. It’s helpful in situations where you need some extra muscle to break an enemy position.

Weapons of Light is a powerful damage bonus, granting you and any friendly Guardians who pass through it a 25% damage bonus (35% with the Illumination talent). Weapons of Light gives Ward of Dawn some offensive bite and can result in more sustained damage being dealt over the lifespan of Ward of Dawn.

Blessing/Weapons of Light are obviously best used when your teammates can take advantage of it too, so avoid buying this if you’re going to be playing solo.

Don’t Touch Medont touch me exotic xur

No stranger to Xur’s inventory, this is a good pair of gauntlets for PvE Hunters that would like to take a more stealthy approach.

These gauntlets have a horrible roll of 77/83 Discipline, while it can reach over 110.

  • Special Weapon Loader – Increases the reload speed of all Special Weapons.
  • Inverse Shadow – Increased Super energy gained from killing minions of the Darkness.
  • Defensive Reflex – Taking damage from a melee attack makes you briefly invisible.

Should I buy it?

Don’t Touch Me are PvE-focused gauntlets that are subclass neutral. While these technically aren’t a Bladedancer-only item, Bladedancer’s will benefit more from Defensive Reflex using their Shadowjack talent.

If you wanted to, you could solo the first part of Crota’s End without breaking a sweat! When you are struck by melee, you are granted 3 seconds of invisibility (6 seconds using Shadowjack). There is no cooldown either, so the moment you are exposed, you are lined up for yet another vanishing act the next time you’re struck.

Invisibility is absolutely priceless in PvE, and these are absolutely worth buying for PvE content, but you probably shouldn’t be using them in PvP.

Sunbreakerssunbreakers exotic review

Ironically these were also sold along with Don’t Touch Me and The Glasshouse a few weeks ago… so if you don’t get them now, you’ve got no excuse.

They’ve got a poor 79/85 Intellect roll.

  • Special Weapon Loader – Increases the reload speed of all Special Weapons.
  • Serpent’s Tail – Causing damage with a melee reduces your grenade cooldown.
  • Helium Cycle – Increases the duration of your Solar Grenade.

Should I buy it?

The perks these provide are fantastic if you set your talents right. Helium Cycle exactly doubles your Solar grenade’s duration. Unfortunately it doesn’t affect Dragon’s Breath solar flare.

An additional Solar grenade with Gift of the Sun is crucial if you want to take advantage of Sunbreakers‘ perks. Song of Flame and Radiant Will are also great as they will have Radiance last longer and have your grenades recharge faster.

In PvP and PvE alike, Sunbreakers give the same benefit. More control over areas and more damage output for your grenades. The Solar grenade can be useful in encounters when enemies come through predictable chokepoints, and for bosses that have multiple points that can be damaged simultaneously such as the Devil Walker.

Are they worth it though? Well, if you want to do more damage with your grenades or use them to deny other people from advancing, absolutely.

What a horrible Xûr this week

  • dstripedape

Last week I got each item this week evens it out I guess

  • Kenshiro Genjuro

Bungie must have put Xur’s evil twin to sleep.

    • Jacob Westmoreland

I’d take evil twin any week over the usual Xur.

  • I’ll probably pick up The Glasshouse for when I start working on my Titan (Warlock already at 32, and has Sunbreakers; Hunter just hit 20 last night, now has Don’t Touch Me equipped). I’ve gotten 3 Dragon’s Breaths from raids; they have all been dismantled for Exotic Shards. A shame I don’t have enough MoLs to take a chance on Exotic Engram, but oh well.
    Praise Xur!

    • Lemony Freshener

      I opened the Exotic chest he sold, and got HoPF! Im so happy ;^;

  • Sawyer Greisen

Sunbreakers and Dragon’s Breath are easily two of the coolest looking exotics… Too bad they aren’t exactly two of the best hahaha

  • Not again

I hope Megaman or someone goes back to data mining Xur, so we can get gear we can actually use. Calling Bungie on thier BS looks like the only way we can actually get Xur to provide us with gear we might still be trying to get since the game dropped in the fall.

    • Lemony Freshener

I data mined a bit, and found this:

No land Beyond Exotic Special 999

      No land Beyond Chestpiece 999

      No land Beyond Helmet 999

      No land Beyond Helmet 999

      No land beyond Engram

Yada yada yada No land upgrades

So we can look forward for a special, 2 helmets and 1 chest. Nice.

This must be from a valid source!!

  • Oriel

The Hunter’s Helmet Upgrade is at 127 discipline, almost maxed out (128). A must buy !

    • MakkinjeM

Aren’t all helmets able to get a stat roll of 137 max? Still a phenomenal roll ofcourse. I especially played a few hours, just to upgrade it!

Sooo, I guess this site is becoming the IGN of Destiny fansites ? Don’t post an opinion or your comment gets deleted.

  • Jeff

Finally in a position to buy an exotic this weekend, and the Titan armor and weapon were both from the expansion (which I haven’t gotten around to buying). Was a bit disappointed about that, but made up for it by getting a drop while patrolling Mars. Got the Third Man helmet. Too bad my hunter has only been through the tutorial mission and was sitting at lvl 2. Guess I have work to do.

    • MakkinjeM

You got an exotic from patroling Mars? How the hell have you done that? :O And more importantly, from what did it drop? I’ve never even heard that before.

      • Jeff

I was sweeping out the Dust Palace. Fought all the way through it, killing everything. Reached the room where you finish the mission that sends you there and one of the guys in there dropped it.

        • MakkinjeM

But how then? Exotic Engrams don’t ever drop, they are only available through Xûr, so that’s excluded. Was it in a mission? Did you get it as a reward? Or isn’t the Dust Palace the Psion Flayer strike? That would explain it.
Do you play on PS4 btw?

          • Jeff

I play on Xbox one. Not on the strike, I was doing patrols for the bounty. Ended up at the Dust Palace after my 6th, but still had to reach 9000 xp without dying for that bounty, so just stayed in there killing stuff. The last enemy I killed dropped an engram, when I took it to the cryptarch it gave me Third Man.

          • MakkinjeM

Aaah that explains it! Yes that’s possible ofcourse. 🙂 I was thinking, they might just give Xb players some sort of compensation for the lack of some ps content, but that can always happen ofcourse!
